Back in the summer of 2023 when I was still working with my first publisher on the release of The Gift of the Guardians, one of the (numerous) points of contention we held was on the pricing of the book. In fairness, at 212,000 words, GotG is lengthy book and The Blackguard’s Bond is even a bit longer. Still, when the old publisher first proposed originally selling the paperback version of the book for at least $30.50, my jaw about hit the floor. To me, this was crazy. As much as I love reading, the realities of life make that process completely cost prohibitive. I even offered to give up my royalty to bring the price down, but they told me that it would actually matter. At the end of the day, I was able to get them down to $29.99, but even that, to me, was nuts.

In any case, as I continued to grow wise to this publisher’s antics and decided to make a break and publish on my own, I was shocked to see that through Amazon, I could instantly offer the price of $23.99, which—to date—has been the cost of both The Gift of the Guardians as well as The Blackguard’s Bond. Yet even those prices seemed a bit much for me and as a husband and father of three kids looking at the beginning of the fall season with back-to-school, fall activities, and various upcoming holidays, I wanted to see if I could lower the prices further.

Well, I did it. With some slight tweaks to formatting, I was able to significantly lower the retail prices of both books even more. I’m happy to say that as of today, The Gift of the Guardians can be purchased for the low price of $19.99 and The Blackguard’s Bond for $20.99.

So, a few things to finish with. First, if you were one of the first purchasers of the novel and were willing to pay the original price of $29.99 know that I am extremely grateful for your willingness to trust in me and my work. Secondly, if you haven’t read the books yet and cost was a factor, hopefully this will help you out. Finally, looking ahead to autumn and winter, I am working to set up various events at different festivals and/or cons so I’ll try to do a better job at posting that info as it comes up.

That’s all for now. Be well.

Onward.
